Up to Zero no Tsukaima F

Hello there anime fans. To start off this season I'll be reintroducing one of my old time favorites, Zero no Tsukaima. I was first introduced to this series by a buddy of mine back in high school but never bothered to check it out because I felt the animation was a bit bland. Prior to Zero no Tsukaima F were 3 seasons. In 2010, I figured since I didn't have much to watch I would pick up this anime.

The first season of Zero no Tsukaima was my debut into the world of lolicons and tsunderes. Because it was something new to me I couldn't take my eyes off. Our protagonist Saito is a typical hero character: ignorant, perverted and has a strong belief in right and wrong. Saito is an ordinary boy that was summoned to a magical world by the heroine Louise as to mark her enrollment as a sophmore at a magical school in Tristain. Louise, the Zero has no magical talent. Upon casting spells, she causes everything else around her to explode instead.

The season itself felt like it had a ton of fillers even for 13 episodes. However, there were a few moments in the season that made it bearable: such as the Ball scene or Saito and the dragon raiment. The main focus of season 1 is Gandalfr, another name for Saito as he is 1 of 4 legendary warriors and, Saito's relationship with Louise. Throughout the season, they meet notable friends such as awesome mage Tabitha, Queen Henrietta, comedy relief maid, Siesta, and Legendary talking sword, Derfringher. The main bad guy for this season appears fairly late into the season and dies off at the end having no influence whatsoever in future seasons. Season 1 ends with Louise tapping into her powers, the Void. And points the next seasons main antagonist to be in another country called Albion. Season 1 was a fun ride overall.

Season 2 of Zero no Tsukaima, Futatsu no Kishi, pretty much follows on the same path as its predecessor. Comedy relief in between gaps and serious and romantic moments thrown into certain episodes. It felt like there was no focus at all to Futatsuki no Kishi. Saito and Louise wander around in an aimless adventure that eventually leads them to the end. It certainly felt like it had quite a few fillers as Saito fights some strong characters that would normally appear to be weak characters in other anime series.

Tristain and Albion engage in war, with Tristain invading Albion. At the end of Futatsuki no Kishi, Tristain sustains heavy losses and is forced to retreat from Albion's lands. However, the retreat itself wasn't fast enough so a group of warriors would have to stop the army of 70,000 Albion troops and demons or a single warrior strong enough to hold them off. Louise volunteered for this position. A final request from Louise to Saito to signify their parting, was their marriage. After a heartful marriage scene, Saito used a magic potion to put Louise to sleep and taking her position. This scene takes the cake in the series of Zero no Tsukaima. Shedding manly tears for Saito as he fends off the army of 70,000 only to protect his dearly beloved, Louise.

Princess no Rondo, the third season of Zero no Tsukaima. Princess no Rondo felt like season 2 events had nothing to do with this season at all. That made me really sad and bored while watching Rondo. Rondo, like the seasons before it is full of episodes that feel like fillers. However, with Rondo being Zero no Tsukaima at it's worst. It felt like there weren't as many powerful scenes as seasons past and the end of rondo is a repeat of the first season, except with Tabitha.

Starts off with the story immediately defeating Albion and it's armies and Saito surviving the battle against the army of 70,000. Saito lost the battle, but was teleported by Derfringher to a safe place. In this safe place, he was healed by an elf, Tiffania. The first few episodes concentrate on the befriending of Tifa. In their world, elves are looked down upon as a dangerous race. Then our main antagonist, Joseph is introduced somewhere in between. Joseph is Tabitha's Uncle and current ruling king of Gallia. After a failed attempt to capture Louise by Tabitha, Tabitha must return to Gallia and face capital punishment. In disbelief, Saito and his gang set off to Gallia to rescue her from Joseph. In the end they do save Tabitha, but with Tabitha falling in love with Saito.

Now, Zero no Tsukaiam F started just how I expected it to. Bed scene, Louise and Saito, and Siesta. Then Louise blowing up Saito for fawning over other women. So far so good, F is just fan service for me. I love the comedy, I've become accustomed to the jokes and the characters. The animation itself seems to have become crisp and clean even if the style and graphics are a bit in the mid 2000's. The Opening theme falls slightly under Futatsu no Kishi's song but the ending theme is the best of the 4 and are quite enjoyable. Old track favorites are reintroduced as well as enjoyable new tracks.

The action in Zero no Tsukaima is improved by F. Zero no Tsukaima is one of my favorite anime series but even I have to admit that the action in Zero no Tsukaima is at best low average. I rate it low because the dynamics of the action scenes were very little, and low detail in the background. And the battle themselves weren't very unique; Simple scream and slash. F takes it up to average by slightly increasing the dynamics in the action scenes. Everything else about the fights are typically the same as before.

The story itself is enjoyable if not great. Saito's perverseness and Louise's misunderstanding are enough comedy to keep you entertained. The action itself isn't very important, it's there to remind you that the story is an adventure in a magical world. I feel Zero no Tsukaima is an anime people should drop by and watch to at least watch it's memorable events. I think if Zero no Tsukaima and the Author was given more time, Zero no Tsukaima could've been a bit better and a bit longer. I have hopes for F and I hope you guys will watch it to.

Yo! This is Taiga Aka Lone Prinny! I will be mainly posting reviews of anime figurines for WFCAnime Blog. I will be doing reviews of figures that I have purchased or figurines friends have purchased. The figurines have been released prior to the reviews so the reviews will be a bit late. Reviews will have both my personal opinion and professional opinion(if able to) or an opinion from a colleague. Other than that thanks for checking out WFCAnime!

R 15

Being bored at the time I was looking for an anime that would give me some laughs. And some ecchi. After reading the synopsis of R 15 I figured it was the one. The story revolves around a boy named Taketo Akutagawa who is a genius at writing pornographic material. Taketo attends a school where all the attendants are geniuses. Majority of the series is Taketo seeing girls in their panties accompanied by a couple of scenes where he sees naked women. But that's just for Taketo to see and not for the audience. All of those juicy parts in an ecchi anime are blotted out by white lines. Forget underwear, even the slightest curve is censored. R 15 has a lot of naughty humor to it but the anime itself isn't very ecchi. However, you get enough laughs to get by.

The animation is ideal for a gag anime; crisp and clean. R 15 avoided close ups and clear background. It had enough scenery to give the watched a feeling of an actual plot line. The character design was nice with an interesting choice of color theme for the school uniform. When it comes to school related anime, the uniform is critical to appealing to the audience as well as giving a feel of the school environment.

If there was one thing that I could ask the story writer to do I'd ask him to not make R15 a gag anime. I know, I was looking for a comedy/ecchi anime but at the end of the day I wished I was watching a heart touching series. I felt R15 had that potential. The concept of a school housing geniuses is an obvious but unused idea. I honestly thought it was a great idea but having used it to make a gag anime I must say am disappointed. Because near the end, I was not laughing but instead expectant of the end.

Animation: 7/10
Props for being a comedy anime.

Comedy: 6/10
It's got some laughs but more of the time you'd be intent about the actual story.

Romance: 6/10
For the most part the series was lacking scenes with romance. But the romance itself was good enough to keep you hooked, more so than the comedy.

Music: 6/10
The OP and ED doesn't ring a bell. But a recurring tune in the anime gave some depth to the anime. And the final song gave some laughs but felt innovative.

Overall: 6/10

Tilt: 7/10
Transpired events and the concept of the story was cool. The laughs were nice but I long for a rewrite. If a second season came out, I'd probably check it out in hopes of an improved storyline.

Byousoku 5 Centimeter

If you are looking for a tear jerker this might be the one. The anime itself is a short 3 episodes only. But being short complements the message of the anime by showing only the necessary events. Anyone who didn't look at the genre or didn't read the synopsis would get hit the hardest when they least suspect the change of mood in the anime. The first movie gives the watcher a little taste of yearning throughout the episode and giving us a slice of sweet love near the end. But that feeling is short lived as the ending separates the lovers with both of them knowing that they would never meet again. The second episode changes the perspective. It's so depressing that every moment of the episode just spells out "longing". The final episode shows the results of a long distance relationship. "It does not work". With the message telling those who yearn that they must move on. As a final note, this anime isn't for those who are looking for romance. Although this anime is about the relationship between a man and a woman, it's not going to happen.

Animation: 9/10
The animation conveys the message of the story. The quality of the animation is refined and does not lack effort. The amount of frames thrown into a simple scene is just amazing with every scene being unique to beat.

Story: 8/10
The story stays true to what the writer is trying to convey. Never a dull moment. But that being said, the series has no plot twists.

Romance: 2/10
Do not expect it because the most you'll get out of it is at the end of the first episode. Throughout the anime you'll just have a crushing feeling around your chest. Albeit confused as to what that feeling was at first but soon realized that that was the feeling of hope for a love that would never come to fruition. If you want to call that hope love then that's fine to, but I'd rather not call that depressive feeling love.

Music: 4/10
I get the feeling there was music but there was nothing worth mentioning. The most you'll remember is the song used to accompany the final scene of the anime.

Overall: 6/10

Tilt: 9/10
I've felt something in this anime that I've never felt in others.
